School History

Skills Development Education Centre (SDEC) was established in 1999 and started with a small beginning of preschool classes. We are aware that every parent and caregiver struggles at one time or another with how to set limits on children’s behavior. The goal of positive discipline is to teach children develop safe, socially responsible behavior that promotes self-respect and respect for the feelings and property of others. Since then, it has gained the trust and support of the people. Today, we have become one of the popular private international schools in Myanmar providing quality education. SDEC is now running preschool, kindergarten, primary and secondary levels with expert, well-qualified and experienced teachers. SDEC also has Summer Classes for English Proficiency and IGCSE / A level Exam Preparation Classes.

SDEC prescribes UK, Singapore and USA textbooks and locally prepared ones adapting into Myanmar contexts in line with UK Curriculum. There are two semesters in one academic year, commencing from June to March.

The driving force for the creation of this SDEC was the need for students to learn high quality academic skills in a wholesome environment in the context of our culture. Curriculum and textbooks were purchased and appropriate teaching technology is considered and revised the texts to suit our needs. Experienced educators from in and abroad are also consulted from time to time as need arises. Our desire is to see every student encouraged and motivated to become all that society expects them to be competent in academics, social, physical, artistic skills. Most importantly, emphasis is given to develop in spiritual or ethical and in communicative skills areas so that the students will become good and competent citizens for our country.
